Basil M. Michaels ,
M.D., FACS
Dr. Michaels was educated in New York City, taking a undergraduate degree in psychology from Columbia College. He went on to The College of Physicians and Surgeons at Columbia University for his medical degree. He began his residency training in General Surgery at NYU-Bellevue and completed the five year residency as Chief resident in 1993. During that residency he also completed a research fellowship at the Bogart Laboratory in Bellevue Hospital studying microsurgery and wound healing.
After General Surgery, Dr. Michaels moved to Boston's Brigham/Children's/Harvard Plastic Surgery program for two additional years. The beauty and culture in Berkshire County then enticed him, and he began his practice in plastic surgery. He founded Berkshire Cosmetic and Reconstructive Surgery Center which was approved by the American Association for the Accreditation of Ambulatory Surgical Facilities in 1999 and the Federal Government (HCFA) in 2000.
Dr. Michaels is certified by The American Board of Plastic Surgery. He is also a fellow of the American College of Surgeons. He has particular interests in cosmetic surgery and breast reconstruction and skin cancer.
